DR BLACK'S RETIREMENT

A Message from Dr Black

After 32 years I have decided to call it a day before I overstay my welcome!  It has been a pleasure and privilege to serve at Betts and I take with me so many happy memories.

General Practice has changed immeasurably over the course of my carer - not always for the better!

Looking back my greatest satisfaction has come from delivering old style family medicine. Many of the children I looked after as babies in 1980's and 1990's are now parents in their own right.  Indeed together with my father there have been Dr Black's working at this practice for over 60years.

Still nothing goes on forever and it is time for new blood and fresh idea's.

I have every confidence in the long term future of the practice and wish my successors all good fortune.

I shall be leaving the practice on Monday 5th February but until then it is business as usual!

With all good wishes

David Black

Test Results

Test results can sometimes take a while to become available. Please ring after 14:00 if you want to ask about a result. The phones are less busy at this time and a receptionist should be able to help you with your enquiry.

As a general rule most blood tests results are available within a week, X-Ray results are back in about a month (although they can take up to 6 weeks at times) and cervical smear results are posted to you directly from the Contractor Services Agency within 8 weeks. Please be patient with the receptionists when you call; they are not medically qualified and can only pass on whether your doctor has said the result is normal or not.

We will often ask people to arrange a telephone consultation if we feel the result needs explaining, asking you to call does not mean there is anything seriously wrong. Alternatively the Doctor may write to you about the results. We will always contact you as soon as we receive your results if there is any urgent action required.

Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
