Appointments

Appointments during COVID-19

We have been open throughout the pandemic and have always offered face to face appointments, however you must first be triaged by a clinician via the telephone. If you have a problem you wish to discuss with the GP then you will need to call to arrange a telephone consultation first and this will determine whether or not you require a face-to-face appointment or whether your query can be dealt with remotely.

Same day telephone calls are reserved for matters we would class as priority. Please do not request a same day appointment if you just require a sicknote, this can be discussed with the receptionist or requested via an e consult.

If you are offered a face-to-face appointment following your triage appointment, can you please ensure you attend. If the problem has resolved or you are no longer able to attend then please ensure you contact reception to cancel the appointment. If you are unsure of the date and time of your appointment, please contact the surgery and we will be happy to assist. Appointment dates and times will not be available via the app or via Text Reminders throughout this time.

The receptionist will ask you for a brief indication of the problem for any appointment - they have been instructed to do this via the clinicians so that they can signpost you to the most appropriate service for your issue.

Routine Appointments

You can book a face-to-face appointment with a doctor – Monday to Friday between 08:30 and 18:00.  Appointments with the doctor are 10min in duration and for 1 problem.  If you have more than 1 problem/issue to discuss you should contact Reception.

At all times you should indicate the degree of urgency. It is expected that patients attend for appointments in good time. If you are unable to keep your appointment please inform reception as soon as possible.

Patients can express a preference of doctor and every effort will be made to allow patients to see their preferred doctor, although this may not always be possible. Opportunistic health checks will be made when appropriate to ensure the best health care is provided.

Over 16? Patients over 16 can now book appointments online. If you are not already registered for this service ask at reception.

Extended Hours Appointments

The surgery also offers extended hours appointments – these are early in the morning or on an evening.  Check with reception for details of these surgeries.

Same Day Appointments

We will always deal with genuine urgent cases quickly as possible. Please advise reception if you are requesting a same day appointment. Reception staff will make an same day appointment on your behalf and advise you when to attend the clinic.

Please note – while a same day appointment is considered as such, patients attending the practice for a same day appointment may be required to wait until the doctor is available to attend the clinic.

Extended Access Hub - Additional Same Day Appointments

Patients who need to be seen urgently on the same day can also access additional appointments in a local treatment centres with a GP.

To book an appointment, telephone 111 stating you require an appointment at the EXTENDED ACCESS HUB, 111 will then ask you a series of questions about your condition and, where appropriate, book you an appointment at your nearest treatment centre.

Telephone Access/Advice

Patients can speak to a receptionist between 8.30am and 6.00 pm. If you feel that advice from a doctor or nurse given over the telephone would be sufficient for your problem then please ask the receptionist.  We have telephone triage appointments available.

For urgent problems the Doctor On-Call will ring you back the same day.

If you need to speak to a particular doctor about an ongoing problem they will ring you back within 38 hours (if they are available).
